Welcome to EFNet Computers. Please have a seat and enjoy your stay. Let us first mention that our core values revolve around having respect for others. If you feel things are ever out of hand and disrupting the overall well-being of the channel, we ask that you please message an active OP with a paste of the situation. With that said, we still strongly encourage the use of "/ignore" in the event of a heated discussion gone wrong. We're not here to babysit anyone and this definitely isn't a daycare center. If someone is giving you grief, please try to use the ignore feature. Now with all of that out of the way, let's make our way onto the few and simple rules we ask that you follow while you're in the channel.

1) Respect - First and foremost, please respect other people and their view points. As mentioned above, this isn't a daycare center so please behave like adults.

2) Posting inappropriate links without some warning or at least the standard "NSFW" tag may get you banned depending on the active OP's discretion.

3) Trolling will not be tolerated. Period. However, if you find yourself the victim of a troll, we strongly advise making use of the "/ignore" feature. Best method of shutting a troll up is just to simply ignore it. They go away. Really. However, just because we encourage the use of "/ignore", doesn't mean trolls won't be removed from the channel.

4) While we strive to help as many people as possible because we're all good hearted people, we're not strictly a tech support channel. This means that general computer and non-related discussions are acceptable. However, if the channel is off topic (which is okay) and someone joins seeking help, let's try to at least read what they have to say and direct them to the appropriate sources before continuing on with random jibber jabber.

5) While we try our best to maintain a "no politics" stance in the channel, we do understand that occasionally and sometimes accidently, politics will get brought up. The main reason we don't generally like to allow politics discussions is because they almost always get out of hand. If you catch yourself in a politics debate or discussion, please try to move it out of the channel or into private messages. An OP is going to ask you to do this anyways, so you may as well do yourself a favor and try to take it private on your own free will if you catch yourself involved in a politics debate that doesn't see a quick ending.

Last but not least, none of us OP's profess to be guru's or all-knowing experts. We're here to provide the best possible assistance that we can given each one of our own specialties and experiences. Most of all, we're here to ensure that these few simple rules get followed and to provide the best possible environment for discussions, debates and educational things to take place. We've all been in those "tech support" channels that instantly tell you to RTFM and treat you like subhuman trash (thanks for that term, flyback) because you aren't an expert already. We obviously don't want that here, and while a large channel such as #Computers will see its fair share of retards and morons, our goal is to keep that sort of thing to a minimum and treat everyone as fairly as possible.

If you have any questions or concerns about any issues that may affect the overall well-being of the channel, please speak to any OP you feel comfortable talking to. We're here to help, so don't be afraid to bring up any issues or concerns you may have.
